Choosing the Right Countertop for Miami's Climate

Not every countertop material survives South Florida's humidity and heat. Here is what actually works.

1

Quartz: The Best All-Around Choice

Quartz countertops cost $50 to $100 per square foot installed in Miami. They are engineered stone, so they are non-porous. That means no sealing, no staining from coffee or wine, and no bacteria growth. In Miami's humidity, this matters. Natural stone absorbs moisture over time. Quartz does not. It comes in hundreds of colors and patterns, including options that look identical to marble or granite. For most Miami kitchens, quartz is the smartest choice. It looks premium, requires zero maintenance, and lasts decades.
2

Granite: Classic and Durable

Granite runs $40 to $80 per square foot installed. It is natural stone, so every slab is unique. Granite handles heat well, which matters if you put hot pans down. The downside in Miami is that it needs to be sealed once a year to prevent moisture absorption and staining. If you skip the sealing, Miami's humidity can cause dark spots over time. Granite is a solid choice if you like the natural stone look and do not mind annual maintenance.
3

Marble: Beautiful but High Maintenance

Marble costs $75 to $150 per square foot installed. It is stunning but requires serious maintenance in Miami. Marble is porous, soft, and etches from acidic foods like lemon and tomato. In Miami's humidity, unsealed marble absorbs moisture and can develop dark spots or mold in the seams. If you love the marble look, consider a quartz that mimics marble. You get the same aesthetic for less money and zero maintenance. Real marble works best as an accent, not a full kitchen surface.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best countertop for Miami humidity?

Quartz is the best countertop material for Miami's humidity. It is non-porous, so it does not absorb moisture, resist stains, and never needs sealing. Granite works well too but requires annual sealing. Marble is the most vulnerable to Miami's humidity because it is porous and soft. If you want the look of marble without the maintenance, quartz options that mimic marble are the way to go. We install all three materials and can help you choose the right one during a free estimate.

How much do quartz countertops cost in Miami?

Quartz countertops in Miami typically cost $50 to $100 per square foot installed. A standard kitchen with 30 to 40 square feet of counter space runs $1,500 to $4,000 for the countertops alone. Higher-end brands and thicker slabs cost more. The price includes templating, fabrication, and installation. We work with local fabricators to get you competitive pricing without sacrificing quality.

Can you install countertops without replacing cabinets?

Yes. Replacing countertops without touching the cabinets is one of the most popular kitchen upgrades we do. Your existing cabinets just need to be structurally sound and level. We template the new countertops to fit your exact layout, including any sink cutouts. The old countertops come off and the new ones go on, usually in the same day. Pair new countertops with cabinet painting and you have a kitchen that looks completely remodeled for a fraction of the cost.

How long does countertop installation take?

Countertop installation itself takes one day. But the full process from template to install takes about 2 weeks. We template your kitchen first, then the fabricator cuts the slabs to your exact measurements. That fabrication takes 7 to 10 business days. Once the slabs are ready, installation is a single day. You can use your kitchen the same evening. If you are doing countertops as part of a larger remodel, we schedule the template after cabinets are installed.

Do you remove and dispose of old countertops?

Yes. We handle everything. We disconnect the sink and plumbing, remove the old countertops, haul them away, install the new countertops, reconnect the sink and plumbing, and do a final cleanup. You do not need to hire anyone else. The removal and disposal is included in our estimate. For laminate countertops, removal is straightforward. For granite or stone, it takes more care because of the weight. Either way, we handle it.
