Frequently asked questions
When should I do hurricane prep on my home?
Ideally, finish all exterior work by May before hurricane season starts June 1. Exterior painting, stucco repair, and fascia work should not be done during rainy season because the materials need dry conditions to cure properly. We get booked up in April and May, so plan ahead. Interior work like bathroom and kitchen remodels can be done year-round.
Does exterior painting really protect against hurricanes?
Exterior paint protects against water intrusion, which is the biggest source of hurricane damage for most homes. Wind does not damage CBS block homes as much as water does. Cracked or peeling paint exposes stucco to moisture. During a hurricane, wind-driven rain finds every crack and gap. A good elastomeric paint job seals those vulnerabilities. It is not hurricane-proof, but it significantly reduces water damage risk.
How much does hurricane home prep cost?
Basic exterior prep including stucco repair, fascia fixes, and touch-up painting runs $1,500 to $5,000. A full exterior paint job with weather-resistant coatings runs $3,000 to $12,000. Drainage improvements run $500 to $2,000. For most Miami homes, spending $3,000 to $8,000 on exterior maintenance before hurricane season is smart. It protects your home and adds curb appeal at the same time.
Do you install impact windows?
No, we do not install impact windows. That is a specialized trade. We focus on exterior painting, stucco repair, fascia and soffit work, and general exterior repairs. If you need impact window recommendations, we can point you to companies we trust in the Miami area. What we do handle is everything around those windows, including stucco patching, caulking, and weather sealing.
