Why us

Reasons people call us

Most cabinet 'painting' jobs are roller paint applied at home. They look terrible up close and chip in a year. We do real refinishing with industrial sprayed coatings, the way the factory used to do it.

Sprayed Finish, Not Brushed or Rolled

We use HVLP and air-assisted airless sprayers to apply post-catalyzed lacquer or 2K polyurethane. The finish is glass smooth, no brush marks, no roller stipple. This is how the factory does it.

Doors and Drawers Sprayed Off-Site

Doors come off and go to our shop where we can control overspray, temperature, and dust. Boxes stay in your kitchen. The result is a perfect factory-grade finish, not a dusty in-place mess.

10 to 15 Year Lifespan

Post-catalyzed lacquer cured properly is harder than the factory melamine on most new cabinets. We have refinished kitchens in 2014 that still look fresh.

Save 60-70% vs Full Replacement

A new mid-range kitchen runs $25K to $40K just in cabinets. Refinishing the existing boxes plus new doors if you want them runs $3K to $6K. Same look, much less money.

HB 803 Friendly Always

Cabinet refinishing is pure cosmetic work. No plumbing, electrical, or structural changes. It always qualifies for the Florida HB 803 permit exemption when total is under $7,500.

How we work

Our Process

Cabinet refinishing follows six steps. The slowest part is finish cure time. Patience here is the difference between great work and mediocre.

Material options

Materials We Work With

Cabinet refinishing materials decide whether the finish lasts 2 years or 15. Here is what we use and what cheap shops use instead.

Primer

INSL-X Cabinet Coat Primer material optionMid

INSL-X Cabinet Coat Primer

Bonding primer specifically for cabinet refinishing. Sticks to glossy, sanded, or stained surfaces. Good base for waterborne topcoats.

Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond material optionPremium

Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond

High-bond primer for difficult surfaces. Used on cabinets with melamine or thermofoil finishes. Allows finish to grip anything.

Topcoat

Post-Catalyzed Lacquer material optionPremium

Post-Catalyzed Lacquer

Mixed with hardener at spray time. Cures harder than the original factory finish. Smooth glass appearance. Industry standard for serious cabinet refinishing.

2K Polyurethane (Sherwin Kem-Aqua Plus) material optionLuxury

2K Polyurethane (Sherwin Kem-Aqua Plus)

Two-component water-based poly. Hardness rivals automotive coatings. Premium finish for high-use kitchens.

Benjamin Moore Advance material optionMid

Benjamin Moore Advance

Waterborne alkyd. Sprays beautifully. Good mid-tier option that does not need catalyst. Cures slower (30 days to full hardness) but easier to recoat later.

Latex Enamel material optionBudget

Latex Enamel

Cheap option. Some companies use this and call it 'cabinet painting.' Lifespan 1 to 2 years before chipping. We do not recommend it.

Color Options

Classic White (BM Simply White / SW Pure White) material optionMid

Classic White (BM Simply White / SW Pure White)

Our most-requested color. Bright, clean, makes any kitchen feel bigger. Easiest to keep looking good over years.

Two-Tone (Upper Light, Lower Dark) material optionPremium

Two-Tone (Upper Light, Lower Dark)

Modern look. Upper cabinets white or light gray, lower cabinets navy, charcoal, or deep green. Often paired with new hardware.

Stain Refresh (Wood Cabinets) material optionPremium

Stain Refresh (Wood Cabinets)

Keep the wood look but change tone. Strip old stain, apply new color, seal with conversion varnish. Best for owners who love wood grain.

New Doors

Replacement Shaker Doors material optionPremium

Replacement Shaker Doors

When existing doors are damaged or you want a different style, we order paint-grade MDF shaker doors and finish them with the same lacquer system as the boxes.

Cabinet Refinishing Clients in Miami

We were going to spend $32K on new cabinets. Broke & Fixed talked us into refinishing and it cost us $3,800. The result is identical to brand new. Real money saved.

They sprayed the doors in their shop and brought them back perfect. No paint smell in the house, no overspray, no mess. Most cabinet painters do the doors on a tarp in your driveway. Big difference.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does cabinet refinishing cost in Miami?
We charge $100 to $150 per door and $75 per drawer front for cabinet refinishing in Miami-Dade. A typical kitchen with 18 to 25 doors and 6 to 10 drawer fronts lands between $2,400 and $5,500 depending on door count, finish type, and hardware swaps. That includes strip and sand, primer, 2 to 3 coats of lacquer or stain, and reinstallation. Compare that to $12,000 to $25,000 for new cabinets and the math is hard to argue with if your boxes are in good shape.
How long does cabinet refinishing take?
A typical kitchen refinishing project takes 5 to 10 working days. We pull doors and drawer fronts on day one and they go to our shop for spraying in a controlled environment. The boxes get prepped on site. Spraying and drying takes the middle of the project, with proper cure time between coats. Reinstallation happens at the end. Your kitchen stays usable through most of the project. You lose cabinet storage access for 5 to 7 days while doors are off curing.
Will refinishing work on my cabinets?
Refinishing works on solid wood, plywood, and good-quality MDF cabinets. It does not work well on cheap particle board with thermofoil or laminate skins because the skin does not accept new finish reliably. If your cabinets are structurally sound (no water damage, no warping, no falling-apart drawer boxes) and the layout still works for you, refinishing is usually the right move. We do free in-person assessments and will tell you straight whether your cabinets are worth saving.
Paint or stain, which should I pick?
About 80 percent of our refinishing jobs end up as paint, usually white, light gray, or two-tone with darker lowers. Paint hides imperfections, is easier to maintain, and reads modern. Stain keeps wood grain visible and looks warm and traditional. Stain shows imperfections more than paint, so the doors need to be in better shape going in. We use post-catalyzed lacquer or 2K polyurethane for the topcoat in either case. Both are way more durable than wall paint and handle Miami humidity, grease, and daily use without yellowing.
How long does a refinished cabinet finish last?
When done properly with quality lacquer or 2K polyurethane, a refinished kitchen should look great for 10 to 15 years of normal use. That assumes you wipe up spills, do not slam doors, and use cabinet-safe cleaners. The finish is actually more durable than what comes from the factory on a lot of midrange new cabinets. We have seen our refinishing jobs from 8 years ago still looking sharp, with only minor touchups around the most-used pulls.
Do you spray on site or take doors to a shop?
Both. Doors and drawer fronts go to our shop where we have a proper spray booth, climate control, and curing racks. That is where the finish quality lives. Cabinet boxes get prepped and sprayed on site since you cannot remove built-in boxes without rebuilding the kitchen. We mask everything carefully so the rest of your kitchen stays clean and dust does not get into your living spaces.
